On January 30th, we had the privilege of welcoming Juan Bendaña, the well-known motivational speaker, to TASIS Dorado. He spoke to a large portion of our student body about becoming leaders to our own ourselves before becoming leaders to those around us. He shared his own stories and learning experiences; each was meaningful and impactful.
After his seminar, Student Council members participated in a dynamic workshop that focused on team-building and interpersonal relationships. Students completed a series of exercises that promoted open dialogue and discussion, which allowed members to share personal interests as well as aided them to know each other more deeply. Many Student Council members highlighted that Bendaña taught them that they can never be too tired; rather, they are more unmotivated. He also encouraged students to be interested instead of interested when meeting new people. He stressed that the key to relationships is not always having common interests but more having common values and goals and being able to respect differences.
We greatly value this opportunity to learn about our role as leaders as well as his words. Too often, we forget how to make strong and valuable connections with people around us. Those connections will enable us to be able to work well with others. As leaders, we encounter this challenge on a daily basis, and we are beyond thrilled that we had the chance to witness such a dynamic and fun speaker. As students and representatives of our school, we hope we can incorporate his courageous, motivational, and passionate ideas into our everyday lives, goals, and interactions.
